Bulletin for 19th February 2012 – The Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time (year B)

19th February 2012 – The Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time (year B)

Today the Church Action on Poverty campaign to “Close the Gap Between Rich and Poor” asks for our support, to give, act and pray together, to build a more equal society.

Lent begins this Wednesday, a day of fasting and abstinence, and distribution of ashes at Mass.

Ellie Stubbs was baptised on Saturday 18th February, and Kaide Dalton will be baptised on Saturday 25th February at 12 noon. Congratulations to their families.

Parking in the school Playground.

Experience of snow and ice last weekend bought to light a problem of compacted snow and ice in the playground and on the path alongside Forbes road, which has been difficult for the school Buildings Supervisor to clear and make safe for the school children on Monday. If we have further snow or icy conditions please avoid parking in the playground and please only come up to the hall after Mass via the path alongside the church. Thank you for your understanding.

The Sacred heart Art Craft and Hobbies Fair held June 2011

Thank you to everyone who came and made the weekend the great community celebration it was. And thank you to all those who planned, painted, sewed, cooked, baked, carried, served and helped in any way – we couldn’t have done it without you.

The weekend was about our parish opening its doors to the wider community and sharing our wealth of talent and enthusiasm. But it was also an opportunity to raise much-needed funds for the work of CAFOD’s new initiative connect2 and Carmel Care Centre. Over £600 will be divided between these 2 causes.

Thanksgiving for and Celebrating Parish Ministries

The Story of Sacred Heart, So Far..

Read the story of Sacred Heart Parish
The present parish can be said to have begun in the Hillsborough army barracks. In 1856, the priests from St Vincent’s Solly Street started a Mass Centre for Catholic soldiers stationed there. In 1903, Sacred Heart School was built and Mass began to be said at the end of a classroom.

The Finance and Premises Committee

The Finance and Premises Committee would like to invite professional plumbers, electricians, builders etc. to be included in a directory of contacts that the church can call if work is required in the church and presbytery. Usual terms will be applied to anyone wishing to be part of the directory of professional people. Please contact Rachel on 2343580. Thank you
