Welcome!

Welcome to our website - a growing resource for people in the parish of Sacred Heart Hillsborough and beyond.

Through spiritual renewal and social action, we can develop a keener and more vivid awareness that human fulfilment cannot ultimately be found in isolation from the fulfilment of others. We will see more clearly the truth that we are bound together in this world as one family, brothers and sisters.”
Cardinal Basil Hume

A bit about our parish…

One of our notable strengths in Hillsborough is the parish covenant with the Poor, with its commitment to justice and peace through wealth-sharing, campaigning, and praying for the people of the world. This is most important to us, a fundamental characteristic of ourselves as a whole parish.

Another of our strengths is the network of churches to which we belong - Anglican, Baptist, Pentecostal, Methodist, and Congregational. We pick up from each other a strong sense of faith and energy, and learn together to value what God has given us to pass on to others.

As more and more parishes prepare to share a priest, we are working towards more cooperation between the 10 parishes of the deanery that cover the northern half of Sheffield. A Deanery Pastoral Council working party is exploring the ways in which we can come together as parishes to share our ideas, our experience, and our resources.

Christ is our companion on our journey, and we need to constantly contemplate the face of Christ, inviting Him to guide us on our way. May the gentleness of Christ be with each one of us as we journey together.”
Willie Walshe, Bishop of Killaloe
